"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. " – Psalm 91:1

Twelve years it has been since the creation of shadowbody. The name manifested in a dream deep in the night while in my studio apartment in a village in the Himalayan mountains of India close to where I was studying Butoh full time.

Since then, shadowbody has seen its name attached to workshops, YouTube tutorials, and even a thorough Butoh manual.

"Shadowbody" evokes the hidden landscapes within us — the subconscious body, often overlooked, yet brimming with untapped creative force. Psychologically, it points to integration: working through what has been cast aside. Spiritually, it invites us to dwell in the sacred covering of God’s shadow — where embodiment becomes both refuge and revelation.

The most recent project includes the Butoh Directory — a crowd-sourced directory — a living Butoh archive and list — of artists ranging from performers and educators to academics, searchable by name, country, and role.

Other active projects inlude Theokinesis , a Christ-led Butoh dance theatre pedagogical and performative method and the Spontaneous Performance Procession (SPP), a site-specific project.
