Overview

The Aerowaves Twenty27 Open Call is an opportunity for artists residing in geographical Europe to apply for inclusion in the Aerowaves network. This program aims to promote innovative dance works and provide performance opportunities through a collaborative network of partners. The application period for the 2027 cycle will begin in May and close on July 15, 2026, at 5 PM CEST. All eligible applications will be reviewed before the end of October, with selected artists notified by mid-November.

Why Apply to Aerowaves?

By applying to Aerowaves, artists have the chance to have their work programmed by the partners of the network, regardless of whether they are selected as Aerowaves artists. Approximately 100 performance opportunities are guaranteed each year, providing significant exposure for selected works. Successful candidates will have their work promoted through an artist profile on the Aerowaves website, which includes images, video, and press coverage. Additionally, selected artists may perform at the Spring Forward Festival, further enhancing their visibility.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, artists must meet specific eligibility criteria:

• Must be a resident of geographical Europe, which includes countries not in the EU.
• Only one work may be submitted per year, and it must be a finished piece between 15-40 minutes in length.
• Works must have been publicly presented and cannot be works in progress.
• Previous applications of the same work are not allowed.
• Works should have simple technical requirements and be suitable for double or triple bills.
• Artists currently completing professional dance training are not eligible to apply.

Application Process

Applicants must fill out the Aerowaves application form, upload their video to Vimeo or YouTube, and provide the necessary links and passwords. Videos must be under 2GB, and if using Vimeo, the download option must be enabled. A small fee is paid for presentations at Spring Forward, along with expenses for travel, hotel, and per diem for each team member. Artists must negotiate performance conditions with partners if selected.
