Overview

The CFGM Circus Arts program at La Central del Circ / Escola de Circ Rogelio Rivel in Barcelona is a two-year vocational training course that provides foundational technical skills in Circus Arts. Students have the opportunity to choose two main techniques and engage with innovative methodologies of creation. The program consists of 10 professional modules, covering subjects such as body placement and awareness, dance and movement, expression techniques, ground acrobatics, aerial techniques, and stage presentation of performances. Additionally, it includes a specific module for external practical training in organizations within the sector, as well as Labor Orientation Training and English language instruction.

Curriculum

The CFGM program includes the following subjects:

• Body Placement and Awareness: Understanding and utilizing the body effectively (Applied Anatomy, Nutrition, Technical Basics, Physical Preparation) - 264 hours
• Creation Tools: Dance and movement techniques for developing body movement in a performance space, including theatrical play and artistic expression techniques - 264 hours
• Ground Acrobatics: Jumps, turns, and supports, including technical and eccentric acrobatics - 264 hours
• Acrobatics on Apparatus: Trampoline, mini-trampoline, and scales to develop aerial control and skills - 198 hours
• Handstands: Various vertical techniques for body line control - 165 hours
• In-depth Circus Techniques (Electives): Students choose two units from options like Ground Acrobatics, Acrobatics on Apparatus, Handstands, Aerial Techniques, Object Manipulation - 330 hours
• Project and Representation: Presentations to the public in various formats, including open rehearsals and end-of-year shows - 118 hours
• Labor Orientation Training (FOL): Legal framework and integration into the circus sector - 66 hours
• Practical Training: Internships with various organizations related to the circus world (companies, festivals, training centers) - 100 hours
• Foreign Language (English): Practical subject aimed at basic communication in circus language - 66 hours
• Free Time Hours - 165 hours

Total: 2000 hours

Schedule

The program has a weekly load of approximately 35 hours, spread over two academic years.

Who it's for

This program is aimed at individuals who wish to become professionals in circus animation activities and/or perform in public with circus acts, collaborating with other artists and circus companies. Each year, 24 places are available for the first course.
