Dance & Voice Educational Year

Overview

The Dance & Voice Educational Year is a ten-month professional training program located in Berlin, focusing on the synergy of movement, voice, and performance. This program is designed to help participants develop their own artistic expression through the combination of song and dance, as well as elements of physical theatre. The curriculum emphasizes the interplay of voice and body, moving away from traditional acting to interpret lyrics and sound through physicality.

Curriculum

The program is structured into five stages: 1. Foundation & Theory: Establishing a dual foundation in movement and vocal technique, supported by theoretical seminars on performance history. 2. Developing Physical Awareness: Intensive training in the interplay of body and voice, culminating in the presentation of solo pieces at the Open House Showing. 3. Creative Development: Development of group and solo works for the stage, alongside continuous technical training. 4. Intensive Training: Refining vocal and physical abilities while promoting individual artistic projects and group excursions. 5. Creation Phase: Rehearsing and synthesizing all works for the final full-length production, KONDENSAT, which serves as the central highlight of the year.

Schedule

The program runs from August 24, 2026, to June 28, 2027. Classes are held Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, excluding public holidays and Berlin school holidays.

Cost

The tuition fee for the program is €4,000, with the option for payment in installments at no additional cost.

Who it's for

This program is suitable for individuals aged 17 to 47 who are seeking professional training in Berlin. It is ideal for those preparing for entrance exams, wanting to explore the combination of voice and movement, or looking for an intensive orientation year for professional realignment in the cultural sector. Participants should have prior experience in singing, dancing, or acting.

Audition

Auditions for the program will take place on three dates: May 9, June 13, and July 11, 2026. The application process requires an artistic CV, a letter of motivation, and a video featuring two songs of the applicant's choice. There is a €30 application fee that covers jury expenses and organizational preparation. This fee is non-refundable in case of cancellation or no-show.

Language

The training is conducted in English and German, and while international participants are supported, they are expected to actively learn German.
