About this opportunity
Lucidity contemporary is a stimulating and dynamic dance curriculum which explores emotional connection. It includes technical aspects such as controlled leg work, torso contract-release, floor work, and incorporates unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction. The syllabus comprises 11 levels and a Teacher Training syllabus, with examinations compulsory for all registered studios.
The syllabus consists of a series of exercises including plié and spine articulation, port de bras, swings and suspension, rolling progression, travelling progressions, floor sequences, turns, leaps, compositions, and dances. Conditioning work is included to develop core and upper body strength, increase turn-out, and improve strength and control. Improvisation is included in junior levels, while student choreography is incorporated at higher levels.
Lessons in terms one and two of the school year focus on preparing students for examinations, which are held in the second or third term of the school year (May – September) in Australia and New Zealand. Examinations are held in June and October in Hong Kong, and May and December in Thailand.
Students can enter the syllabus at any age and ability, with age recommendations for class placements based on no previous dance experience. Level 1 is recommended for 7 years, Level 2 for 8 years, Level 3 for 9 years, and Level 4 for 10 years or beginner teens/adults.
Candidates sitting Level 10 onwards must have sat and passed the previous grade as a prerequisite (i.e., Level 9).
