Nora Chipaumire is a prominent figure in dance and choreography, known for her impactful works and numerous awards. She was born in 1965 in what was then Umtali, Rhodesia (now Mutare, Zimbabwe) and has a rich background in colonial education for black native Africans. Her recent works include the opera NEHANDA (2021) and the installation afternow (2022). Chipaumire has received several prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix de la Danse de Montréal in November 2023 for her opera Nehanda.
