Hagley Theatre School

Hagley Theatre School is an independent training and theatre creation programme within Te Puna Wai o Waipapa – Hagley College, located in Christchurch, New Zealand. The school offers immersive and transformative theatre training through two main courses: the One-Year Acting Training Course and the Six-Month Theatre Creation Course.

Curriculum

• One-Year Acting Training Course: A year-long program focused on the art of acting, open to anyone with a passion for performance. No prior theatre experience is required. The course runs from February to December.
• Six-Month Theatre Creation Course: Focuses on theatre-making, allowing students to propose areas of investigation for creating a theatre performance. This course runs twice a year, in February and August.

Schedule

• One-Year Acting Training Course: Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM to 2:30 PM.
• Six-Month Theatre Creation Course: Runs twice a year (February and August).

Deadline

Applications for both courses are open until 30 October 2026. Audition Day is 31 November 2026.

Who it's for

The One-Year Acting Training Course is open to anyone with a passion for performance, regardless of prior experience.
