Overview

The directing program at the Athanor Academy focuses on a comprehensive education in directing for theater, film, and other media. It combines theoretical foundations with practical experience to prepare students for a successful career as directors.

Curriculum

The curriculum includes a strong theoretical foundation in theater, film, music, and art history, as well as the theory of acting and directing. It emphasizes scene analysis, character development, and technical skills such as camera techniques and sound recording. Students will engage in practical scenarios from the beginning, participating in rehearsals and performances, and will be involved in the development of concepts and dramaturgy.

Who it's for

Applicants should be between 17 and 24 years old, with German language skills at a minimum of C1 level. A general or specialized high school diploma or at least a secondary school certificate is required.

Audition

Candidates must prepare a monologue from a classical or contemporary piece and a directing concept (3-5 pages) for the entrance examination, which is conducted by a panel of five instructors.

Cost

The directing program costs €176 per month. This includes professional training from internationally successful instructors, access to modern technical equipment, and various educational materials.
